Here is a brief but informative question and answer from Les Josephson, our first Los Angeles Ram for my new, "Where Are They Now?" page. Les currently works for a mortgage company in Arizona, and also calls the Arizona Wildcats games for their flagship station. He was very busy but took the the time and effort to make this interesting interview happen. Thanks Les!!!! - Jonathan Fenno - LA-Rams.com

Les Josephson
#34 Follows His Blockers

John Turney - "Ask Les about the time he was in the movies---Heaven Can Wait and the TV show Six Million Dollar Man."

Les Josephson - "My movie career consisted of about 12 other shows in adition to the ones mentioned. "Heaven Can Wait" was probably the highlight of my movie making. There was also an ABC film called "Superdome" which is re-run almost every year around Super Bowl time. That one is about the planning of an attack on the Super Bowl game in New Orleans. The best part of that was getting spend 28 days in the French Quarter. My only regret about leaving LA was losing the ability to stay involved in the movie industry. "

John Turney - "Ask Les les what his 40 time was and what the other Ram's times were. Larry Smith was a 4.6, Willie Ellison 4.5. I'd be curious to know what it was."

John Turney - "Ask Les how be became a Ram, I thought he was drafted by Dallas."

Les Josephson - "My 40 time was 4.6 - I had never been timed in a 40 until a scout from the 49ers timed me my senior year in college. He was surprised and that is really what got other teams interested in me. I originally signed as a free agent with the Dallas Cowboys but was traded to the Rams in training camp of my rookie season. The Cowboys received an offensive tackle by the name of Jim Boeke."

Tom Bass - "Does he still follow the team, now that they're in St. Louis?"

Les Josephson - "To me, the Rams are not the same. Yes, I still follow them but it just isn't the same. Even though I played in the Blue & Gold uniforms, it just does not have the same feeling to me as the old Blue & White uni's."

Tom Bass - "For much of his time in Rams horns, he was a role player. Backing McCutcheon, complementing Willie Ellison in the backfield, right? How does that impact an athlete's natural competitiveness?"

Les Josephson - "As a role player, you learn to do your job when called upon. This is the same thing that any professional must do, no matter what line of work he is in. If a person is a competitor, he will respond to the situation in a positive manner."

JJ - "How did you sustain your injury that kept you out for the 1968 season?"

Les Josephson - "My injury that caused me to miss the 68 season was a classic. How many people have you heard of getting hurt running out for pre-game introductions? That is precisedly what happened to me.. The 1968 Times Charity Game in the Coliseum was my lst game for a full season. I tore the Achille stendon in my left leg and missed the entire season. I was extremely fortunate, however, to have a great surgeon repair the injury and made it possible for me to return in 1969."
