When I go to work in the mornings I use a street that goes past a rather large corporate complex. It's got several, imo badly placed, entrances and the very last one is quite close to the intersection of US 23. During rush hours, a Columbus policeman is at that entrance to direct traffic. It's usually the same one. I don't know his name but I call him Peyton because I think he resembles Peyton Manning of the Colts. He's very good at directing traffic and he seems to be an amiable fellow at least as far as I can tell driving past him.
Many a morning, either a cold one or a hot one, I think about stopping and buying him a coffee or a cold drink. I wonder if he'd accept it and I wonder if it's crazy to want to just give a complete stranger a drink. It's the same with the landscapers and the construction workers I see. I want to give them some water or pop or something (not beer!). I wonder if they'd think I was nuts. _________________ Scarlet Termite

DO it, Scarlet! Even if you get him a dunkin donut's "card" in case he says no you can always use it. It's never wrong to try to do a good deed! _________________ Politeness is not weakness. |
